As the Secretary, I am honoured to lead an institution constitutionally mandated to strengthen the Federal Judiciary through transparent, merit-based appointments and effective administration of judicial personnel.

Our Commission remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity, competence, and independence in the Nigerian Federal Judiciary. We continue to work diligently to support the Judiciary in delivering timely and quality justice to all citizens.

About the FJSC

The Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) is one of the 14 Federal Executive Bodies established by Section 153(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

Its origins trace back to the Federal Judicial Service Commission created under the 1979 Constitution. Today, the Commission is chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria and comprises distinguished judicial officers, legal practitioners, and persons of unquestionable integrity.

Powers & Functions

As stipulated in Paragraph 13, Part I of the Third Schedule to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), the Commission has power to:

Advise the National Judicial Council in nominating persons for appointment as judicial officers to all superior federal courts.

Recommend to the NJC the removal from office of specified judicial officers.

Appoint, dismiss and exercise disciplinary control over Chief Registrars and Deputy Chief Registrars of all superior federal courts.

Manage all other members of the Judicial Service of the Federation not otherwise specified in the Constitution.
