Mrs. H.A. Turaki is a Life Bencher and an accomplished Nigerian legal administrator currently serving as the Secretary of the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC). As the chief accounting officer of this constitutional body, she plays a vital role in the management, administration, and appointment processes of the Nigerian judiciary.

Mrs. H.A. Turaki possesses a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from Bayero University, Kano, obtained in 1995, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1996. She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC). Her career spans several years of dedicated service in legal practice, judicial administration, and public service. She served as Secretary of the Body of Attorneys General from 1999 to 2001 and was appointed Secretary of the Body of Benchers in 2005 (having earlier served in an acting capacity from 2001 to 2005), becoming its pioneer substantive Secretary.

She was made a member of the Body of Benchers and confirmed with the status of a Life Bencher in recognition of her sterling qualities and exemplary leadership style. She is a member of several Committees in the judiciary.

In her capacity as the administrative head of the FJSC, Mrs. Turaki oversees the executive machinery that interfaces with the Chief Justice of Nigeria and other top judicial heads. Her core mandates include:

• Coordinating the review, shortlisting, and advisory processes sent to the National Judicial Council (NJC) regarding the appointment of Judicial Officers;
• Overseeing recruitment, promotion, welfare, and disciplinary structures for members of staff across federal courts and the Commission; and
• Spearheading structural frameworks to improve overall judicial service delivery, institutional transparency, and administrative efficiency.
