Department Overview

The Department of Planning, Research and Statistics serves as the strategic hub for data-driven decision-making, policy formulation, and operational efficiency within the Federal Judicial Service Commission.

The core functions of the Department include: coordinating corporate and strategic planning, policy development, and programme implementation; conducting research on judicial administration, human resource management, and service delivery; collecting, analyzing, and managing statistical data on judicial activities, personnel, and budget performance; preparing and monitoring annual budgets, work plans, and performance evaluations; and overseeing information management systems to promote transparency and improved service delivery.

Units
ICT Unit — Manages the Commission's ICT infrastructure, develops and maintains digital systems, ensures cybersecurity, and drives e-governance and digital transformation initiatives
Data and Statistics Unit — Collects, processes, and analyzes statistical data on judicial operations, maintains the E-recruitment portal and Management Information System (MIS), and generates periodic reports to support planning and policy decisions
Library Unit — Manages the Commission's library and information resources, acquires and disseminates legal and administrative materials, and provides documentation and e-library services to support research and knowledge management
