Court of Appeal

The court of Appeal has original jurisdiction to hear and determine any case that questions whether a person has been validly elected to the office of President or Vice President under the Constitution; the term length that the President or Vice President may serve; or when the office of the President or Vice President has become vacant. It also has Appellate jurisdiction to hear and determine appeals from the Federal High Court, the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, High Court of a State, Sharia Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Sharia Court of Appeal of a state, Customary Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Customary Court of Appeal of a state and from decisions of court martial or other tribunals as may be prescribed by an act of the National Assembly. The Court of appeal consists of the President and a number of Justices of the Court of Appeal, not to be less than 49, that has been determined by an
act of the National Assembly.
